Music Business at OnHollywood

The most notable thing about OnHollywood 2008 was the participation and attendance of entertainment industry talent.  We typically get a number of big name folks to show up for the conferences, but often they blaze in with their cell phones stuck to their ears, sit on a panel and then screech out of there.

Not the case this year.  Quincy Jones III, Chamillionaire, Chaka Zulu and a number of other heavy hitters from the music business came and participated on panels, but more interestingly they hung out, attended sessions, watched CEO demos - they networked and they studied.  These guys get what digital media can do for them - they see how they can go direct to their audiences and cut out layers of middlemen.

You could see the entertainment industry changing right in front of your eyes.

Bambi got some great interviews which you can see in the Vator.tv Newsroom here.

Here's an interview with Chamillionaire:

Beyonce's Selection Process

Beyonce's song Irreplaceable has been getting some serious airtime the last couple months, it's catchy.  However, one has to ask if Beyonce is putting enough thought into the selection of her partners if she can "have another you in a minute."

Clearly the first guy didn't work out and if they're that fungible then I have to believe the next guy isn't going to be all that much better.  Beyonce may want to spend a little more time gathering a few extra data points on prospective fellows before procuring them a jag and providing closet space.

As with many aspects of life, too little time spent at the front of the funnel leads to a lot of wasted time down the line.
