Wrapping up a fantastic time at Nanuku resort in Fiji. I lived in Suva when I was a kid, and we had a weekend house in Pacific Harbour, so this area has special meaning to me. Many tourists stay on the western side of Fiji as it's the leeward side of the country - but I've always loved the eastern end of Fiji. You get a bit more wind and rain, but that means you also get the full tropical experience. Dense jungle, full rivers, all kinds of birds and critters. If you're from the U.S. you can get dry beach in Cabo - if you're going to make the trip to Fiji, there's something special about at least having part of your stay be in a truly tropical climate.
We were very impressed with Nanuku. They've pulled off a tough trifecta - very high end resort, family feel, and Fijian experience. Especially the last one, Fijian experience, is a tough one. It's easy in the quest to make everything feel fancy to lose the light hearted feel of Fiji. Nanuku has done a great job keeping things a little more fluid and bringing the personality of Fiji along with all the great aspects of the resort. And there are a lot of great aspects of the resort - a private Island for day trips, rivers to raft, fishing, surfing, and this morning we say a group leaving to hunt boar! And the best part for parents is that there is a full team ready to show your kid the ropes of Fiji - our five year old, Branson, was constantly engaged and active (and not on is iPad!). He even made half a dozen trips down the on-resort zip line!
Beautiful beachfront house, amazing service, tropical feel, great fun for kids and real Fijian experience - highly recommend.
Vinaka vaka levu Nanuku - moce mada sota tale!
